5, 2009 - At 2308 hours, E27 was alerted to a fuel
spill at the Shell Gas Station in the 3300 block of
Benning Road, NE. While in route, further
information was obtained of smoke coming from a
leaking tank, upgrading the Local to a HazMat Alarm.
E27 confirmed a 1500 gallon hydrogen tank leaking to
the rear of the station. A four block area was
evacuated along with a Metro line shutdown due to
the highly flammable gas involved with the
possibility of an explosion. A Special Alarm was
called for to assist. A representative of the gas
station was called in to mitigate the problem and
