14, 2013 - At 1306 hours, units with the 2nd Battalion were
alerted to the 100 block of 50th Street, NE for a house. E27
responded first due, as T17 arrived on side Alpha of a two
story, semi-detached house with fire showing from the second
floor. E27 stretched a line to the second floor as T17
pulled two occupants out. The rooms were quickly knocked
down, while the two victims were rushed to the hospital. The
Box was held with one and one a short time later. |

28,2013 - At 0504 hours, units with the 2nd Battalion were
alerted to the 2100 block of H Street, NE for a house. E27
responded third due as units arrived on side Alpha of a two
story apartment house with smoke showing on side Charlie.
E27 arrived and backed up E10 with fire in the walls, and
extension to the attic. After the fire was controlled, E27
was redeployed to the Bravo exposure to check for further
extension. Trapped smoke was found in the exposure and no
extension. E27 operated for 30 minutes. |

13, 2013 - At 1321 hours, units with the 3rd Battalion were
alerted to the 1800 block of Q Street, SE for a building.
E27 responded fifth due as units arrived on side Alpha of a
three story apartment building with smoke showing from the
second floor. E27 arrived, set up RIT, and checked for
multiple egress points for units operating. E27 operated for
30 minutes. |

11, 2013 - At 1953 hours, E27 was alerted to a Local Alarm
for trash in the rear of the 4200 block of Edson Place, NE.
Upon arrival in the alley, the crew found a large pile of
trash on fire that took up the entire backyard of an
abandoned two story semi-detached house. E27 filled the Box
due to the fire being next to the house. The fire was
brought under control in 20 minutes, and the Box held to one
and one. |

27, 2013 - At 1830 hours, E27 was alerted to Medical Local
at the CSX building at 32nd and D Street SE. After the
Engine crew thought they arrived on the scene, CSX security
took us a few miles north along the CSX tracks, in which we
found an accident to the rear of the Minnesota Avenue Metro
at I295 and Benning Road. A single vehicle was found on a
pile of railroad ties. The driver was not complaining of
anything and stated that he had made a wrong turn. E27
cleared in 20 minutes. |

11, 2013 At 0400 hours, units with the 2nd Battalion were
alerted to the 5800 block of Field Place, NE for a house.
E27 responded second due, and arrived on side Charlie of a
two story single family with fire showing. A collapse in the
main fire building occurred upon E27's arrival. With
extension to the Bravo exposure, the crew redirected the
line. E27 knocked down all visible fire in the exposure
building as units worked to contain the original building.
E27 operated for four hours as the Box was held with two and
two. |

8, 2013 At 1658 hours, units with the 2nd Battalion were
alerted to the 200 block of 36th Street, SE for a building.
E27 responded first due, and arrived on side Alpha of a
three story apartment building with smoke showing from the
third floor. The crew found a kitchen off in a third floor
apartment and knocked down the same with no further
extension. Ops 2 held one and one in 20 minutes. |

5, 2013 - At 1704 hours, units with the 3rd Battalion were
alerted to the 1700 block of R Street, SE for a building.
E27 responded fourth due, and arrived on side Charlie
picking up E18's line. First arriving units had a two story
apartment building with fire on the first and second floor.
The crew backed up E18 as the fire went defensive. One
firefighter was injured during the initial interior attack
from a fall. The Deanwood Fire Department wish him a speedy
recovery. E27 operated for two hours. |

12, 2013 - At 1855 hours, Fireman Sellitto and his
girlfriend Anne welcomed their first child into the world.
Vincent Theodore Sellitto
came a couple weeks early, weighed 5 lbs 13 oz and
was 18 1/2 inches long. Mom and baby are doing well, dad not
so much. The Deanwood
Fire Department would like to congratulate the Sellitto family. |
